The 3 girls of Babymetal look as if they are en route to a friend’s fancy dress party. All frills and red and black and silver. This is what I am looking at just before they go on stage to deliver, some 2 hours and 15 minutes later, one of the best concerts I can remember. Never have stage persona and real person been so mutually exclusive.
BiSH Are Back – Kinda
As many visitors to my once world famous food blog know I almost poisoned myself cooking with Fairy Liquid. As a consequence of this near death experience I must have suffered brain damage because all I’ve been doing since is writing about Japanese music. Why BABYMETAL Are Going To Take Over The World
I am one minute and twenty seven seconds into the track Death by Babymetal and my brain is having trouble making sense of, well, everything on my laptop screen. I think I see three small Japanese teenage girls dancing and singing along to one of the most brutally heavy death metal riffs I have ever heard; I feel a combination of 90% confusion, 2% terror and 8% something along the lines of sdkjfdjkfhdhds. Exactly. I am in fits of giggles, shaking a bit and maybe dribbling… a bit. What I am obliquely trying to say is that I have heard nothing quite like Babymetal. Continue reading
